Until South Common Reopens, Sheridan's Indoor Winter Runs Through Sherwood Village

  • November 5, 2026

The building at 2225 Erin Mills Parkway used to house Papa Luigi's, Smitty's and a food court. Most of those long-time tenants have closed or moved on, according to insauga's look at the mall's new look. The same building now holds 15 indoor pickleball courts, 14 badminton courts, Trackman golf simulator bays, an Italian restaurant with its own café, and the Sheridan Library.

On South Millway, South Common Community Centre and Library is a construction site. That makes the former Sheridan Mall, now called Sherwood Village, Sheridan's indoor rec room this winter, and it will stay that way until the City reopens South Common, which it expects by the end of 2027.

What Closed on South Millway, and for How Long

The South Common project is a full rebuild. The City of Mississauga says the old facility is being "completely demolished, relocated on the property and rebuilt." All indoor and outdoor amenities are closed for the whole project, except the tennis courts. According to the project page, the City is moving programs to nearby community centres "where possible," naming Clarkson and Huron Park.

The timeline is long. Mississauga's 2026 budget announcement, released January 28, 2026, expects the rebuilt South Common to reopen by the end of 2027. It will include a new aquatics centre and a new gymnasium. The City has also scheduled a community survey on proposed programs for January 2027 and a virtual information session for February 2027.

One detail from the City's FAQ explains why Sherwood Village fills the gap so neatly. The new South Common will have a full-sized double gymnasium, and pickleball is one of the sports the City lists for it. Until that gym opens, the nearest indoor pickleball is at the mall.

What an Hour of Play Costs at the Mall

The three recreation tenants at Sherwood Village work differently, and pricing is where that shows most.

Venue What's inside How to get in Posted rate
Rally at Sherwood Village 15 indoor pickleball courts, coaching, leagues, open sessions Free Social Membership, book up to 3 days ahead $15 per person per hour; $17 weekdays 5 to 8 p.m.
Golf On Lounge Trackman simulator bays with food and drinks Book a bay online; walk-ins when space allows Open bays $30/hr before 5 p.m., $45/hr after; private bays $100/hr, plus tax
APlus Sport Club 14 badminton courts, one volleyball court Rentals, drop-ins, training courses Term-based programs with set registration dates

Rally charges per player. A doubles game with four people booking as visitors costs $60 for the hour, or $68 if the hour falls in the weekday 5 to 8 p.m. window. Golf On charges per bay, so a group splits one hourly rate. That rate jumps by half at 5 p.m., from $30 to $45 for an open bay. At both venues, the cheapest time to play is before the after-work rush.

Rally's site says courts can be booked from early morning to midnight. The free Social Membership has no initiation fee and no monthly commitment, so people can walk in and play the same day. The club's Fall/Holiday leagues run from October 13 to December 8, and the Tuesday evening league is already full. For the rest of this season, newcomers can get on court through drop-in bookings and open sessions.

Golf On Lounge posts its hours as a summer schedule, with Mondays and Tuesdays closed except for private or special events. Check the site before planning a weeknight round in December.

The Winter Calendar Runs on Deadlines

APlus and the library both run on dates, and APlus's biggest deadline falls in early December. These are the dates that matter for the rest of the season:

  1. December 2: Adult book club at Sheridan Library.
  2. December 9: Computer basics session for adults 55+ at Sheridan Library.
  3. December 13: Early-bird payment deadline for APlus Sport Club's 2027 winter term.
  4. December 15: Family drop-in at Sheridan Library.
  5. December 17 and 19: Last Thursday and Saturday Family LEGO sessions of the fall at Sheridan Library.
  6. December 21 to 23 and 27 to 31: APlus winter camp.
  7. January 4 to March 14: APlus 2027 winter term.

The APlus camp falls over the holiday weeks, and the winter term starts the first week of January. Families who usually relied on South Common for holiday-week programs have a choice on the same block.

Family Storytime at Sheridan Library also continues on Mondays through December 14 and Fridays through December 18. The Sheridan Library shares the 2225 Erin Mills Parkway address, so a toddler's storytime and a parent's court booking can happen in the same trip. It opens at 9 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, stays open until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and runs 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays.

For South Common library users, the South Common Pop Up Library at 2150 Burnhamthorpe Road West offers a small collection, holds pickup, public computers, and printing and copying. It is open until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, which is later than Sheridan Library on any night of the week.

Where the Game Ends

The anchor restaurant is part of the same mix. Il Fornello at Sherwood Village opened on June 24, 2024, according to insauga's report on the opening. Its café, Cafe Alba, was serving espresso from the start.

Restaurant hours are noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sundays. A 7 p.m. court booking at Rally still leaves time for a sit-down dinner afterward on any night of the week.

Cafe Alba opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. It serves coffee, pastries, sandwiches, salads, gelato and pizza. That suits a morning pickleball session or a coffee before an APlus program better than an evening game. Golf On serves its own food and drinks at the bays, so a simulator round can double as dinner.

The Mall Is Still Changing Around the Courts

The recreation tenants grew out of a plan that is still going. In 2022, insauga reported that the old Sheridan Mall would become Sherwood Village, with a new facade, an upgraded mall and housing on the site.

In April 2026, insauga reported the next phase. A planned 15-storey building would replace the KFC and Taco Bell at the north end of the site, near Lincoln Green Way. Another apartment building is planned near Fowler Drive, for 631 units across both buildings. The same report said McDonald's would stay, and the former Pizza Pizza space was being renovated with a drive-through pickup lane.

For the indoor-recreation routine, the change to watch is at the north end of the site. That is where the fast-food restaurants and the planned apartment building sit, at Lincoln Green Way. The courts, golf bays, restaurant and library are all reached through 2225 Erin Mills Parkway.

Clarkson and Huron Park community centres remain the City's named stand-ins for South Common programs until the new South Common opens, which the City expects by the end of 2027. For pickleball, badminton, golf and a library visit inside Sheridan itself, everything is at 2225 Erin Mills Parkway.

The Larose Team has followed Sheridan's changes for more than 25 years, from the mall the neighbourhood was built around to the redevelopment taking shape there now.
